Nostalgic Music Thread

Well, if you're gonna have themes from 50s and 60s TV shows, then ya gotta have this one.

Song: Theme From Peter Gunn
Artist: Henry Mancini

Everything is better when there's some Peter involved.

Imagine a time with no internet, no High Def TV, no twitter, no Facebook........so big cinema ruled, and guys like the "Man With No Name" were larger than life up on that big screen:

From the deservedly-praised Bridge of Sighs album...

Song: In This Place
Artist: Robin Trower

<iframe width="560" height="315" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/ZEAqlmGNT2c" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>

For those not familiar - after leaving Procol Harum, Robin Trower formed a power trio in the early/mid 1970s.

Robin Trower - guitar
James Dewar - bass & vocals
Reg Isidore - drums

Yea Tip, Robin Trower has certainly done some good stuff in years past.

One of my favorites from him - the beautiful "Fly Low"

She was an incredible singer, songwriter, absolutely beautiful, and in the HOF, yet I still think Laura Nyro deserves more. At least her wonderful talent lives on via YouTube:

I am not sure how many here are familiar with the works of Lorena McKinnett. This is off of a album from the "80's and is my favorite song from here. Mummer's Dance by Lorena McKinnett. Album named The Book of Secrets. My wife and I got to love this album because we had had our fill of being stationed in South Carolina and Georgia. This album brought back some of the Irish/Nova Scotian and New England folk music that we both value.

Here's another Ray Charles song, but it's a different Performance. :D

Song: Hallelujah (I Love Her So)
Artist: Humble Pie

The 20-year old playing guitar with them went on to achieve a modicum of success.

A scratchy vinyl record on a turntable, the "Flowers" album serving as a backdrop, the Stones just announcing a new USA tour (really), damn, I must have time warped myself back to the 60's, guess I'm in heaven:

No band has an oeuvre that matches the Stones.

A lot of their stuff has held up very well over the years.

This is a selection from an album that is just brimming with good songs.

Song: Dark Star
Artist: Crosby, Stills and Nash

Love the bass line on this one.

April 9, 1928 was the day this creative person entered the world.

On his 85th birthday, take a few minutes to enjoy this gem:

Song: The Elements
Artist: Tom Lehrer

NCIS used the song as a clue a few seasons back;
