This song is as gritty as "How Do You Sleep", and the guitars cut to the bone :notworthy:

it's really short, but so sweet

If you have an interest in Brazilian jazz, this is one of the best IMO - Flora Purim doing "You Love Me Only"- very soft and haunting in it's melody...esp toward the end of the song. I remember hearing it a lot on the FM airwaves back in the late 70's:

Flora Purim has a wonderful voice; I first became aware of her because of Chick Corea and the Return To Forever album.

Here's another glorious female vocal performance:

Song: Mahk Jchi
Artist: Ulali (a female acapella group)
Album: Robbie Robertson's Music For The Native Americans

Man, that album came out almost 20 years ago. Sometimes it's scary to see how fast time passes.

We've had some fine selections previously posted from power trios featuring Jimi Hendrix and Robin Trower.

Here's an exemplar from the genre.

Song: Tales Of Brave Ulysses

Alrighty then - let's stick with power trios for a bit.

Here's a selection from a band that only put out one album with a power trio line-up. For this effort, as with so many others, Jorma Kaukonen was in fine form in both the song-writing and guitar playing departments, and it's demonstrated on the opening track of the album.

Song: Sleep Song
Artist: Hot Tuna

The album cover features these words:

Warning: This album to be played at full volume for maximum effect.

Sound advice. (where's the rimshot smiley? :banghead:)

Ah, Robin Trower - don't think I have posted this song yet - "I'm Out to Get You".

"Well the world keeps on turning....through the years that lie ahead"

Amazingly talented, innovative, and prolific. And currently fronting a band called 'Power Trio', the incomparable Adrian Belew.

Maybe in 20 years or so you can post some of those songs here in your thread. :D

I have the Op Zop Too Wah album, and of course am familiar with Adrian from his stints with Zappa, King Crimson and Talking Heads. It's good to see him get acknowledged in here.

The original Marshall Tucker Band- live, 1973 - "Can't You See". Gawd I loved these guys:
