Nostalgic Music Thread

This month is the 100 year anniversary of the premiere of a ground-breaking work of importance in both classical music and ballet.

However, the first exposure to this work for many of us was via the movie Fantasia.

Song: Rite Of Spring
Artist: Igor Stravinsky

Here's 12 plus minutes of sheer class and greatness- Chuck Mangione doing "Land of Make Believe" with Esther Saterfield on the lead vocals:

Having an older sister exposed me to great music like this before I was a teenager. One of Santana's greatest, from their arguably greatest album.

Dire Straights line "cry or sing" reminded me of this song. Eddie Hazel trully made his guitar cry.

Congratulations, Carole King! Very well-deserved and about time :toast:

Beagle - Carole King - you bet - incredible singer/songwriter.

Here's someone else that you might say contributed a wee bit to music in the past many decades. I didn't appreciate this song very much back in 1965 when it came out, but I sure do now:

I considered going with the studio version for this one, but ultimately decided that there may be some out there unfamiliar with the genius of Jaco Pastorius, and those persons would benefit from listening to this recording.

More Pastorius!

Did some mention Jaco? Well , here he is with Weather Report doing "Black Market", the jazz album of the year back in 1976:
